Farewell to Long Serving Member
Last night (Tuesday August 6th 2024) the Wayfarers Chorus bid farewell to Paul Smith, our latest MD, a long serving member who is stepping down due to other commitments.
Paul has been a loyal and hard working member of the chorus for 21 years, first as a ‘Lead’, more recently as our Assistant MD and finally our MD. As well as introducing his own interpretation of our repertoire he brought a certain quirkiness and sense of fun to our warm-up routines.
During his final rehearsal, Paul took us through much of our repertoire before relinquishing the floor to the instrumental musicians amongst the members, for an impromptu concert. Not to be outdone though, Paul showed he is no mean instrumentalist himself with a couple of songs on a vintage ukulele.
At the end of the evening, a presentation was made in recognition of Paul’s many years of service to the chorus. We all wish him well and hope to see him back in the future, either as a guest or a full-time member again.
If you are interested in becoming a member of Wayfarers Chorus, or would like to talk to us about the MD position, please get in touch at info@wayfarerschorus.com or fill in our contact form.
