Wayfarers Gather To Remember

The Wayfarers Chorus came together in numbers today, to sing at the memorial and reception of Roger Fieldhouse, a long time member who sadly passed away recently.

Roger was a key member of the chorus, not just because he was one of those rare breeds – a Tenor – but also for his quiet support over the years since 1989, when the chorus was founded.

Those present at the memorial learned many things previously unknown about Roger. For example, who could have guessed he once shook the hand of Martin Luther King?

Following the memorial, at which the chorus sang ‘Irish Blessing’, a further three songs were performed at the reception in the Little Theatre. This is the home of the ‘Southport Dramatic Club’, another organisation which has benefitted from Roger’s support.

Roger will be greatly missed by Wayfarers Chorus and, judging by the number of people attending the memorial, by many others across a wide spectrum.
